Women’s Initiatives

“Women’s empowerment helps raise economic productivity and reduce infant mortality. It contributes to improved health and nutrition. It increases the chances of education for the next generation.”

-United Nations Development Programme

JLH works with local organizations to help serve and empower women around the world in many ways, such as:

  • Leadership training

  • Skills and job training

  • Rescue from trafficking

  • Legal aid

“One village in Nepal lacked clean water, forcing girls to walk hours each day for water, making them vulnerable to traffickers. JLH provided a well for the village, bringing the women safety, and we also provided the women with several sewing machines.

They then started a microsaving program, each contributing about 25 cents per month, and began loaning money within the group. Today it is a registered micro-cooperative bank under the government of Nepal, and almost 1100 women are members; among them they have formed 87 independent businesses!”
